The Developer Option on Android Phone is an important hidden feature embedded in our Android phones by our various mobile phones companies.
The developer option is like a key to a treasure and also to a curse. With the right settings in the Developer Option, you can tweak your android phone into something really good starting from speed, customization and optimization of your Android Phone.
You can control the software parameters of your phone well if the developer mode is ON. Developers of various Android phones hid the feature because of what the is embedded in there.
I will list some of the important features that are included in the Developer Option on Android Phones.
OEM technically stands for original equipment manufacturer. OEM simply implies a company branding a particular product to its name and then providing support, warranty and licensing for that particular product. OEM makes a device secured. It locks the bootloader thereby protecting the phone from unauthorized access to the bootloader. For Android phones users who want to root their phones to install various custom roms, they must first unlock their OEM using various methods supported by different devices. Unlocking OEM comes with some disadvantages. First, your phone will be vulnerable to attacks. Let’s take for instance, your phone can be flashed using the manual methods of either volume down or up keys plus power button if it gets into the hands of a bad person. Your files and accounts will be deleted using this method. But if your oem wasn’t unlocked, such access wouldn’t have been possible.
This is another important option included in developer option. This option will allow computers to have access to your phone directories thereby communicating directly with your phone. The USB debugging option is important when using adb commands to communicate your phone. When this option is ON, you can do a lot of technical activities with it using your computer.
The network option under developer modes gives the phone owner the power to tweak the networking settings available for his phone. Options like wireless display certification, wifi coverage , wifi verbose logging, option to always keep mobile data active, tethering hardware acceleration, USB connection configuration, Bluetooth special configurations and more.
HARDWARE ACCELERATED RENDERING
This contains settings on how your hardware will be running or performance settings. Options like force GPU rendering, hardware layers updates, HW overlays simulation and more. It is advisable to leave everything here to the default settings except you really know what you’re doing.
This controls options like display surface updates, layout bounds, forced RTL layout direction and windows animation scale. You can tweak this settings to your taste if you know what you are doing. If not, leave it to default.
Other settings available in developer mode includes settings for behavior of apps, optimization of ram and lots more.
